i've really been loving white lately. maybe it's because it's clean and fresh.... whatever the reason, it's become the inspiration for many decor choices lately.

Summer

Summer has been miserably hot this year. I was so excited to use my patio for an evening of cocktails with my best friend, but the heat was too much even when the sun had gone down. I'm very ready for fall and milder weather.

orient express

decorating my apartment (still) has me looking for beautiful design everywhere. when i stumbled across these photos of the orient express i fell in love with the plush designs and pulled a lot of inspiration from them for my closet (second bedroom). my great aunt was fortunate enough to actually travel on the orient express during the height of its popularity as a tourist attraction. i hope one day i can follow in her footsteps, but until then these lovely photos will work just fine.

p.s. sorry for the lack of posts lately. i've been going through a rough time in my personal life and it has kind of put my life on hold. however, i am planning a little shoot for this evening and am really excited to share the results with you.

Irony

When the movie The Future came out Miranda July set up a website that would send a daily bit of fortune cookie wisdom to your email address. As a huge fan of her work I couldn't resist signing up. Ironically I received the email below 2 days ago. I guess my future was pretty clear even if I wasn't aware of it.

I'm still feeling a little too upset to get in front of the camera myself, but my best friend bravely modeled for pin up style photos so that I could get back in the rhythm of shooting. We're choosing to keep her photos private for now, but I might be adding them in the future.

cheated hearts

sometimes it's hard not to feel cheated. unfortunately we all have to experience it sooner or later.


in other news (news that somewhat pertains to the song) my bestie and i had a lovely little girls' tea time yesterday. the thunderstorm set a perfect, cozy mood for our afternoon. we nibbled on earl grey lavender shortbread cookies, sipped on hot tea and chatted about love. it was pretty relaxing afternoon.

i had planned on shooting this afternoon, but i have to take my car back to the shop so hopefully tomorrow.

being cooped up in the house sick and without a car had given me lots of time to pursue one of my passions in life....internet shopping. as you can tell i'm majorly crushing on nastygal.com. i'm pretty much in love with everything on their site. i'm missing you terribly though and all the shopping in the world won't help that.

also, tomorrow, come hell or high water i am going to take pictures tomorrow. i think it might make me feel better to have something to work on that doesn't take too much out of me.
