last night i finally got around to watching "lone", the movie chelsea wolfe made. i really enjoyed the format it was shot in as well as the beautiful imagery and music.



it's definitely worth watching. you can buy a copy of it at hello merch (the usb drive comes with a t-shirt and poster, so bonus).

Candle making

I made my first batch of hand dipped candles last night. It went surprisingly well. 

I started by cutting 12 lengths of braided cotton wick material and melting 5 pounds of was in a double boiler. After the wax melted I started dipping. 

The finished candles were dipped about 50 times and hung up to dry over night. 

I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. The whole process took about 3 hours (most of which was spent waiting on the wax to melt and get to the right temperature. 

I can't wait to try some different colors and scents. My boyfriend is helping me set up a little online shop and making some packaging so we can earn a little extra cash. I'll post a link once everything is set up.

*these are some leftovers from yesterday's set. i really liked the lighting and didn't want to discard them. i'm working on making some candles tonight and should have pictures of them tomorrow. i'm also starting work on a summer dress and if it turns out, i'll have pictures of it up soon.

*i found this quote on tumblr the other day and thought it was lovely.

*it's been a long time since i've posted anything. i finally felt like picking up the camera again last night for some quick shots, but i was having trouble keeping myself focused (hence the out of focus nature of these pictures). i should have a few more shots up tomorrow and have a few ideas for things i want to do. since the weather is finally warm enough again, i'm planning some outdoor photos at my boyfriend's house.

*in other news, i'm planning on trying my hand at candle making. i'm doing my first round of dipped candles on thursday and will probably have pictures of what will potentially be an epic disasters.
